For women who love to read!

The Goddess Book group started in 2020, for women who love to read and want to share this passion with like minded souls. With such an amazing range of books available for the Awakened woman, it makes sense to get together and celebrate them. Each month we choose a book to read and then we meet for some interesting conversation in a supportive circle of women.

Some women said they joined the group because they wanted to make more time for reading in their lives and felt that the group would give them the accountability to do so. It's so true that in our busy lives, reading can feel like a luxury, we forget that reading is actually an essential investment in ourselves. Whether you are reading an interesting non fiction book or a good novel, reading expands your mind, teaches you new things and provides powerful inspiration. It's the best form of self care.

So take some time this month to curl up with a good book, you won't regret it!

The Happiness Myth

The Happiness Myth: Why what we think is right is wrong

By Jennifer Michael Hecht

The Happiness Myth is a fascinating cultural history that both reveals our often silly assumptions about how we pursue happiness today and offers up real historical lessons that have stood the test of time. Hecht delivers memorable insights into the five practical means we choose to achieve happiness: wisdom, drugs, money, bodies, and celebration.

Hecht liberates us from today's scolding, quasi-scientific messages that insist there is only one way to care for our minds and bodies. Hecht looks at contemporary happiness advice and explains why much of it doesn't work. "Modern culture," she writes, "is misrepresenting me and spending a lot of money to do it."

Rich with hilarious anecdotes about both failed and successful paths to happiness, Hecht's book traces a common thread of advice—she calls it "sour charm wisdom"—that we can still apply today to create authentic, lasting happiness.

The Obstacle is the Way

By Ryan Holiday

We give up too easily. With a simple change of attitude, what seem like insurmountable obstacles become once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. Ryan Holiday, who dropped out of college at nineteen to serve as an apprentice to bestselling 'modern Machiavelli' Robert Greene and is now a media consultant for billion-dollar brands, draws on the philosophy of the Stoics to guide you in every situation, showing that what blocks our path actually opens one that is new and better.

The Stoic philosophy - that what is in the way, is the way - can be applied to any problem: it's a formula invented more than 2,000 years ago, whose effectiveness has been proven in battles and board rooms ever since. From Barack Obama's ability to overcome obstacles in his election races, to the design of the iPhone, the stoic philosophy has helped its users become world-beaters.

Warrior Goddess Training: Become the Woman You Are Meant to Be

By Heatherash Amara

This is a book that teaches women to see themselves as perfect just the way they are, to resist society's insistence that they seek value, wholeness and love through something outside themselves, such as a husband, children, boyfriend, career or a spiritual path.

This book as a message for women struggling to find themselves under these false ideals. Heatherash Amara challenges women to be 'warrior goddesses', to be a woman who:

• Ventures out to find herself

• Combats fear and doubt

• Reclaims her power and vibrancy

• Demonstrates her strength of compassion and fierce love

Her approach draws on the wisdom from Buddhism, Toltec wisdom and ancient earth-based goddess spirituality, and combines them all with the goal of helping women become empowered, authentic and free.
